The
I-BiT™ system treatment is not yet available on the NHS or privately.
At the moment we can only provide this treatment as part of our ongoing clinical
trials. The reason for this is that the system does not yet have approval
as a medical device. Like all the devices used in medicine it will need to
be licensed and for this to be approved we have to submit evidence of the
usefulness and safety of the treatment for amblyopia. In the meantime we can
use the device only as part of a medical trial, and there is strict criteria
for recruitment of patients on these trials. Development work is continuing on the system, but currently there are no trials ongoing and we are not recruiting patients.
